More flair, and a Gaelic dictionary

More OUTLANDER Flair

I'm still having fun playing with OUTLANDER flair on Facebook. Here are my latest creations:

If you have any suggestions for SHORT but memorable quotes that you'd like to see made into flair, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

Gaelic/English Dictionary

Thanks to Carol at My Outlander Purgatory for finding this terrific Gaelic dictionary! I've only just browsed through it very briefly, but it looks like a wonderful resource. (I don't speak Gaelic at all, so I can't say whether it's accurate or not.) I wish it came with a pronunciation guide! Or a native Gaelic speaker to pronounce the words for us? <g>

I speak Irish (badly) It was compulsory (and still is) for all students in Primary and High school in Ireland. I hated it at the time but now am glad to have a bit of knowledge tucked away in the recesses of my brain!

Anonymous - I'll think about that one. Definitely a possibility, though!

Erin - sure, go ahead and use any of these that you like! All my creations are tagged with "outlander" and "diana gabaldon" so they'll be easy to find in a search of the catalog on FB.

Gina - is that similar to Scottish Gaelic?

Publishers of the Outlander series and other historical fiction need to add the appropriate dictionary to the Kindle format (or Nook). It would be terrific to be able to highlight a phrase and see the translation/definition from the Gaelic to English. Or just include a phrasebook with the e-version.

I'd love to see a button with "Weel, if you bed wi' a vixen, ye must expect ta get bit."

And, of course, the last line to that bit is the best: "Bite me again"

(I don't have my copy of Outlander to hand just at the moment to be sure I got the quote exactly right, but it is one of my favorites! I keep thinking it would be fantastic on a sleep shirt) ;)
