Winter pictures

Yes, I know, it's nearly two weeks yet until the official start of winter, but considering that many parts of the US and the UK are suffering unseasonably cold temperatures this week, I thought it might be a good time to share a few winter pictures that remind me of the OUTLANDER books.

(Please note, I didn't take any of these photos! I just looked around the web for the best ones I could find.)

A Dangerous Bit of Trail - 5550'
Snow on Grandfather Mountain, NC (near where Fraser's Ridge is supposed to be located)

Le fleuve St-Laurent, vu de la terrasse Grey, Plaines d'Abraham
View of the St. Lawrence River and the Plains of Abraham, Quebec (where William spent the winter of 1776-77)

Cairngorm mountains Scotland
Cairngorm Mountains, Scotland

Icicles in Boone, NC (in the vicinity of Fraser's Ridge)

Valley Forge Winter
Soldiers' quarters at Valley Forge, PA (this picture makes me cold just imagining what it must have been like!)

Ashness Bridge, the Lake District, England (near where Helwater is supposed to be located)

Hope you enjoy these!

Thanks so much Karen. These really gave me a feel for Winter in the books. I appreciate the time you spent finding and identifying these for us.

These are very beautiful and definitely give a sense of the setting in the books. I've never commented before, but I really enjoy your blog!!
