OUTLANDER Virtual Book Tour 2/14-3/11

I just saw this announcement on the OUTLANDER Book Club site and wanted to pass it along:

The Pump Up Your Book site is sponsoring an "Outlander Virtual Book Tour" from February 14 - March 11.

Details here.  (Scroll down to where it says "Outlander Virtual Book Tour Schedule" for a list of participating sites.)  I'm not quite sure what a "virtual" book-tour involves, nor whether Diana will be actively participating in this or not.  But it sounds like a great way to spread the word about the books, don't you think?

UPDATE 2/18/2011 6:15 pm: I asked on Compuserve, and Diana says she's not going to be involved in this. Apparently no one told her about it or asked her if she wanted to participate. Too bad.

What an interesting site!

Thanx for sharing; I'll be watching it now.

Hi, Karen -- I'm one of the participants in the Outlander virtual tour. Many authors do "blog tours" or "virtual tours" as a fast and easy way to promote a new book or generate interest in their work without leaving the comfort of their home! We are provided the promotional materials to use on our blog, and sometimes an author will do a guest post or Q&A. As far as I know, Diana herself will not be actively participating, although since it's online, she could possibly "stop" in and leave a comment (which is always welcome!). Her publisher, Random House, is providing me with a giveaway copy to use for my book spotlight on February 24th. It's a great way to generate interest in the 20th Anniversary of Outlander.

Thanks for the information! I'm sure I'm not the only one who's never heard of "virtual tours" before.

I mentioned this to Diana on Compuserve yesterday and she didn't seem to be aware of it, but then again she just got back from her vacation in Jamaica and is doubtless still going through her old emails.

I agree that it sounds like a great way to publicize the 20th anniversary of OUTLANDER. I'll be sure to stop by your blog on the 24th.
