Diana has stated on Compuserve that she will not be participating in the virtual tour.  But it sounds like a good way to draw attention to OUTLANDER in its 20th anniversary year.  Please take a moment to drop by these sites over the next few weeks, and leave a comment if you want to.

Hi Karen,

Okay, it's only day 2 of the virtual book tour, but already I'm disappointed; it is the same review on yesterday's and today's locations! Do you think that's all it will be? I was hoping for at least some personalization...
At least, maybe some new reader's will drop in to one of those sites and fall in love with "our" books and characters!

I had the same reaction you did, actually. I get the distinct impression that the "book spotlight" posts will all be the same, but maybe I'm wrong.

Diana has been busy with other things the last couple of days and has not been online responding to questions on Compuserve, about this or anything else, so I still don't have any idea whether she intends to comment on any of these blog posts or contribute to them in any way. If I hear back from her on that, I'll let you all know.

Thanks Karen. I'm glad to hear that your reaction was the same. I've been lurking in Compuserve for some time, so I knew DG was otherwise engaged. I do know that the virtual tours would be immeasurably improved if she were to be involved, even in a small way. We can but hope!

So far, I'm not at all impressed. The first three days have featured three absolutely identical blog posts, by the same person, Cheryl, who is listed as the owner of the first three blogs on the tour schedule. Is that helping to attract new readers to the series? I tend to doubt it.

I'm still keeping an open mind, and maybe there will be a variety of different types of posts (on blogs not all owned by the same person!) as the "virtual tour" continues. But I suspect that DG is not in fact personally involved in this.

Hi there. Thank you for stopping by my post on the blog tour. It is my understanding that Diana is not involved in the tour at all. I didn't know that the same excerpts were being provided to all hosts. I hope that my post was a little bit different.

It didn't even occur to me that Outlander was turning 20. Definitely a cause for celebration!

Hi Teresa, good to see you here!

I was actually relieved to see that your post contained some personal comments about the books, and wasn't just a clone of the previous "book spotlight" posts. And I meant what I said about you showing all the signs of OUTLANDER addiction (not that that's a bad thing in any way at all, of course! <g>)

I will agree, I am a total Outlander addict. I know that there are a lot of us out there. Yesterday's post on Outlander got a lot of hits!

I asked on Compuserve, and Diana says she's not going to be involved in this. Apparently no one told her about it or asked her if she wanted to participate. Too bad.

Thanks for stopping by here, Rebecca!

Hey Karen, that is too bad that they didn't even think to get the author herself involved.
Meanwhile, is it just me, or why can't I see/find the American Chronicle article?

The Virtual Book Tour came to an end yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised, by the end, to find that there were quite a variety of reactions. Lots of OUTLANDER-addicts and longtime fans, a number of people who said they'd heard about the books for a long time but never read them, and some, like Cheryl, who had never even heard of DG before hosting the book-tour.

Despite my initial skepticism, I think this was a worthwhile project that will help to spread the word about OUTLANDER in its 20th anniversary year.

Curious to know what the rest of you think, now that it's all over?
