How long have you been reading Diana Gabaldon's books?

The topic for my September poll is, "How long have you been reading Diana Gabaldon's books?"

Please take a moment to vote, and feel free to leave a comment here or on my Outlandish Observations Facebook page to explain your choice.

I discovered OUTLANDER in November 2006, so it's been almost ten years for me. (You can see the story of how I found the books here.)

I picked up a copy of Outlander when I was going through chemo and had more time than usual to read....the rest is history. I've real almost everything that Diana Gabaldon has written and will always make time to read her books, can hardly wait for the next one in the series.

About 20 years ago, I had a friend who told me about a book written by Diana Gabaldon with one of the main characters who was a Tall Red-headed Scot, named Jamie! The thing that impressed her the most was that Jamie called this woman who was found by his Godfather & then became his wife; Sassanach! She loved saying Sassanach & would shiver every time she said it! I'm so sorry she didn't live to know that a TV Series has been made from Diana's books called "Outlander." She would have just loved it & loved Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser!!

My sister gave me "Outlander" for Christmas one year. After I finished it I quickly found "Dragonfly" and "Voyager" and was done with all three by Valentine's Day. Then I joined the ranks of Those Who Wait. Each time a new book came out, I prepped by re-reading all the ones that came before, in order, just because.

A friend put me onto outlander. I have read all the books apart from the last two chapters of the last book. I can't bring myself to finish the last book.

I started reading Outlander (or Cross Stitch as it was called here in Australia) when I was put on bed rest whilst expecting twin boys who have just turned 18.

I started reading Outlander books in 1992. When I read all the books that were out then (don't remember how many) and then went back and read them all again. Then I ran out of books and had to wait and wait for the next one to come out, and then the next one. Each time a new book was published, I would go back, start with Outlander, and read all the books leading up to the new one. I've done this ever since. I don't even KNOW how many times I've read the first book. At least 12! And I love it every time. I have spent all those years trying to convince everybody I met to read Gabaldon's books, with limited success. Now that the TV series has come out, more of my friends have started reading the books. I consider myself an Outlander Crusader!

Hi Karen < I love the Outlander Series very much , more than Twlight ' or Harry Potter . or Fifty shades of Grey, I was first told of them by a friend who works at my local Barnes & Noble , who knew I had a love for reading Historic Fiction & Scottish Fiction & Romance and said that The Outlander series would be just for me , so I bought the entire series , read the first book < Outlander , and I was hooked , I could not put it down , I knew I was reading something very special , I found myself reading well into the night , it was in my dreams at night , so I have been hooked ever since , Diana is a wonderful writer and I hope she never stops writing these wonderful books , will be an Outlander Fan for all time to come , please post more soon. received the book as a gift in 1992, when I was "young and raising two girls alone" got thru about 50 pages and set it down, picked the same book up again when my oldest daughter was in labor with my first grandchild (1997) and could not put it down and wondered WHY it took me so long to pick it back up.

A couple of years ago, my husband's brother told him about the series and about meeting Diana Gabaldon in New Bern, NC. My husband got online and ordered all the books that were current. He never really engaged, but once I picked up "Outlander" and made it to Scotland, I was in, hook, line and sinker! I carry something Gabaldon with me everywhere I go even if it's an electronic version on my phone. I've read everything once (LJG and all the other novellas as well as the bulges) and the bulges multiple times.

I broke my leg at the beginning of April and watched a bit of the series. That got me hooked so I read all the books. It was far more fun to be in Outlander world, so when I finished them, I just started again from the beginning. Never done that with a series before. I've also read most of the side books, Lord John Grey books and got the whole family into the TV series. Addicted!
