A 'redcoat' could be English, Welsh, or Cornish, for instance, or even a lowland Scot since most of the lowland clans did not support the rebellion. At the time of the rebellion Great Britain was the Kingdom of Great Britain, sans Ireland.
From Wikipedia:
"The Kingdom of Great Britain, officially Great Britain /ɡreɪt ˈbrɪ.tən/,[1][2][3] was a sovereign state in western Europe from 1 May 1707 to 31 December 1800. The state came into being following the Treaty of Union in 1706, ratified by the Acts of Union 1707, which united the kingdoms of England and Scotland to form a single kingdom encompassing the whole island of Great Britain and its outlying islands."
mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04592144970447434471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7379581147262228210.post-60221747708832042832016-06-12T16:56:19.788-04:002016-06-12T16:56:19.788-04:00As usual, you have that marvelous eye for detail c...As usual, you have that marvelous eye for detail coupled with your excellent memory. I did a lot of research on Lord George Murray years ago, thinking I'd write a historical novel about him (but haven't yet). Enjoyed seeing how he was portrayed. If only the Prince had listened to him. Watching with my husband and mother is difficult -- she doesn't like it (an age problem) and he doesn't understand and constantly mutes the sound to ask questions.

This is the first episode this season that has pulled me in. I thought it was well-written, and all the actors did a fantastic job. I didn't like Dougal's killing spree after the battle and thought it was an unnecessary waste of time (not to mention gory).

Losing Angus is so sad. I'll miss his humor and mischievous banter so much. Didn't realize it until the second watching, but I didn't tear up until the end and the look on Rupert's face.

Can't wait for 211 written by Herself!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14289774373527880877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7379581147262228210.post-74854600555952776432016-06-12T15:35:00.800-04:002016-06-12T15:35:00.800-04:00Karen, thank you for that excellent and detailed a...Karen, thank you for that excellent and detailed analysis. I agree with many of your observations. Unlike my hubby who watches classic WWII movies over and over , I am not a fan of battle scenes. However, the way they filmed the silent approach and sudden attack through the mist by the Highlanders was truly amazing. Regarding the targes, JAmie was carrying one. Watching Sam as Red JAmie in full battle mode was thrilling. I must say that when I have rewatched, I cannot look at the opening scene of the dead man, Angus's death, or Dougal killing the survivors. I was surprised to see LT. Hottie . When I first saw him in Rent, I thought that the actor would have made a good William since he is tall and handsome like Sam with blue eyes and dark hair..too late now..a pity. I thought the scenes between JAmie and Claire finally showed their loving , deep bond. Sam is probably the best kisser I have ever seen ..at least on the tv screen. Those passionate kisses reminder me of BookJamie's randy reaction to fighting. ..mmmphmmmm♥Susanlynnnoreply@blogger.com
