I would have been married to my David for 50yrs. on Feb.3rd, last; he passed away just 4 weeks before we would have celebrated! To mark the occasion, I got out my wedding gift(no pearls!) from him: a KJV Scofield reference bible which he had inscribed thus:
Dear Patricia:
The truths of this book have given women their elevated place in society, more than anything in this world.
If you would be free from the petty tyrannies of your husband, keep him near its Author, for His command is,
"Husbands, love your wives as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it." No woman minds being in subjection to one who would be crucified for her."
I love you,
David
As it turns out, my David was a wonderful Jamie! Not a ginger, but he had a Jewish soul that relied on the word of God, a Christian spirit which guided his every decision; this was wrapped up in a beautiful Celtic warrior's body! Thanks for reminding me to read it again; that bible I keep in protective as it is nearly worn out. "Lady Di" has described him perfectly.
