A brief Book 10 update

Diana Gabaldon shared a brief update about A BLESSING FOR A WARRIOR GOING OUT (Book 10 of the OUTLANDER series) on her Facebook page yesterday.

Yes, Book Ten (aka A BLESSING FOR A WARRIOR GOING OUT) is coming along well, and <crossing fingers> with luck, most of you will have it sometime next year (I say "most of you", because I can't predict how long any particular foreign edition might take for translation--we'll do our best).

Naturally we're all glad that she's making serious progress on the book, but please note, this is not a guarantee!

UPDATE 11/6/26 8:43 am: Diana clarified what she meant, in a comment on her Facebook post:

I'm saying that IF people will leave me alone for the next six months or so, I'll likely be able to finish the book, which can THEN go to the publisher, who will do all the copy-editing, proof-reading, etc. stuff, and who are responsible for choosing a pub date--that's not up to me.

We still don't have a publication date. "Sometime next year" is Diana's best guess at this time, but she often says that when it comes to estimated publication dates, she's "always wrong". The exact date will be set by her US publisher, Penguin Random House. Until we see an official announcement of a specific date, it's not set in stone.

On a related note: if you see a pre-order page for BLESSING on Amazon in the coming months, keep in mind that Diana has said for many years that Amazon makes up dates! They often put up a "placeholder" listing for the book, with a fake date and estimated page count, long before the actual date is announced, so they can start taking pre-orders.
