No STARZ tie-in paperback of THE FIERY CROSS

I've been wondering for a while why we haven't seen any mention of a STARZ tie-in paperback edition of THE FIERY CROSS, as they've done for the earlier books in the OUTLANDER series whenever a new season of the TV show begins.

A few days ago I noticed that the e-book listings on Amazon and Barnes and Noble are now showing the new cover art.

But what about the paperback?  I asked Diana Gabaldon about it today on TheLitForum.com, and she replied,
They decided to use the tie-in art only for the e-book, saying that they hadn't seen any significant difference in sales between the tie-in covers and the regular covers for previous books.
Too bad for the collectors out there who were looking forward to adding this one to the existing set. I don't collect them personally, but I like the look of the matching covers.

On the other hand, I can certainly understand the publisher not wanting to spend the extra money on printing special edition paperbacks (especially for a book the size of THE FIERY CROSS, which is already pushing the limits of what's physically possible to fit in a paperback!) if it's not going to result in increased sales.

Please pass the word to anyone you know who may be wondering about this.

Did not even know there were paperbacks that tied to the TV series! Whyever?? There are The Books.

The term "TV tie-in paperback" refers to a paperback edition with a special cover, meant to draw people's attention to the OUTLANDER TV series. It's the same book on the inside.

Good to know. Thanks Karen. The first copy of Outlander I got was a mass-market paperback Starz tie-in edition. I have since gotten the Starz tie-in editions of the first four paperbacks. Because I’m a completionist, I’ve been looking for the one for The Fiery Cross but had only found the ebook. Now I can stop waiting for the paperback. (I also have them in the regular mass market paperback editions, the autographed hardcovers from the Poisoned Pen, ebook version for my nook and the ebook version for my kindle, not to mention the ones that have come out in the anniversary editions....I may be a wee bit obsessed)

Thank you! We've been asked about it in our Brazilian Outlander FB group. I'll share this information.

I also collect the large posters for each season but haven’t seen the one for season 5 yet.

Very sad that they are not going to come out with the fiery cross Starz tie in edition. I just purchased the first four Starz tie in editions and wanted to collect the whole series.

Really disappointed - I too was collecting the paperback tie-in set and like to have complete sets. I already have all the books on Kindle and in audio but liked the look of having all in a matching paperback set for the bookshelf.

Too bad. I don’t have any of her books other than the fist tv-tie ins and wasn’t going to buy the others until the same format was printed. I like my boos covers to match with series. So now I won’t have the other half of her books Of my own. Hello local library I guess

Dang it I was collecting them. Can you request one?

That's too bad. I have been collecting the Starz Tie-in Editions as well. Sorry to hear they're only concerned about making more money. Stinks for the fans who have always been so loyal. :(

This is disappointing news. I was really wanting a complete collection of these covers :(

I would love it if they could bring the star tie in copy out. I also have been collecting all the stars copies, and was hoping to complete the collection. I will not be buying anymore books now, as the set won’t be the same :(

This is very disappointing, why does it always come down to money and how much they make. What about the fans!

What a disappointing piece of news. And during this pandemic when we've all been sheltering-in-place, re-reading all of our well-worn copies of the Outlander books, waiting each week for a new episode of Season 5 and in-between: binge watching the first four seasons over again. Even though I have all the books repeated in both paperback and Hard Cover copies, I personally was in the process of buying the large paperback Starz tie-in covers for display purposes. I would think the publisher could appreciate that many of the customers for the Starz tie-in covers already have several forms of the books and wouldn't be purchasing yet more copies if not for the special covers. I hope this united lament is heard and the collectable photo covers featuring Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are re-established for the remainder of the televised series.

Well, I can finally stop waiting for the Starz tie in...yes, I have the original paperbacks and the hardcover but I was building a collection of the larger paperbacks with covers from the series...wish they would just continue the tradition for the fans. Especially since it appears it will be even longer till we get to see a new season of Outlander.

Now that the series will stop at season 8, I understand why they won't make the tie-in covers anymore. Too bad.
