Last day of filming for OUTLANDER Season 2!

Today is the last day of filming on OUTLANDER Season 2! Here are a few of the reactions from the cast and crew on Twitter:

Congratulations to Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and the rest of the OUTLANDER cast and crew! It's been a long, and no doubt exhausting, 9 1/2 months since filming began on May 7, 2015. I'd like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone involved in Season 2 for all their hard work.

Season 2 of OUTLANDER premieres on STARZ on April 9, 2016. I can't wait!!

OUTLANDER on the cover of Entertainment Weekly!

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are on the cover of the current (March 4, 2016) issue of Entertainment Weekly!

I like this cover (except for that word "bodice-ripping"!) Some fans have objected to the blatant sexuality of it, but I don't have a problem with it.  It's certainly eye-catching and provocative, and will doubtless sell tons of copies of the magazine.

Here's EW's photo gallery (definitely worth seeing -- the costumes are gorgeous!) and a brief article about OUTLANDER.

This is the video of the EW photo shoot. I like the way Cait, especially, talks about Season 2 in this video. (For more about OUTLANDER Season 2, look here.)

I haven't yet seen a copy of the actual magazine, but from what I understand, it includes an eight-page feature on OUTLANDER, with an interview with Diana Gabaldon and an excerpt from Book 9.

"Virgins" standalone e-book will be published on April 8!

I just discovered that "Virgins" (Diana Gabaldon's story about Jamie and Ian as young mercenaries in France in 1740, before Jamie met Claire) will FINALLY be published as a standalone e-book on April 8, 2016! (That's the day before the OUTLANDER Season 2 premiere on STARZ.)

I'm really glad to see this. We've been waiting a long time! ("Virgins" was originally published in the DANGEROUS WOMEN anthology in 2013.)

Like Diana Gabaldon's other standalone e-books ("A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows", "The Space Between", etc.), "Virgins" will be available for $1.99.

Pre-order links:

Please note, I don't know if the standalone e-book will be available outside the US and Canada.

I hope they'll release the audio version of this story as a standalone as well. I've heard wonderful things about Allan Scott-Douglas's narration of "Virgins" (which is part of the audiobook of the DANGEROUS WOMEN anthology, where this story originally appeared) but I've never listened to it.

For more information about "Virgins", see my "Virgins" FAQ page.

Favorite romantic quotes from the OUTLANDER books

In honor of Valentine's Day, here are some of my all-time favorite romantic Jamie quotes from Diana Gabaldon's OUTLANDER books.  It was hard to pick just one per book! I hope you enjoy them.

"Ye are Blood of my Blood, and Bone of my Bone. I give ye my Body, that we Two might be One. I give ye my Spirit, 'til our Life shall be Done."

(From OUTLANDER by Diana Gabaldon, chapter 14, "A Marriage Takes Place". Copyright© 1991 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.)
"I'm honest enough to say that I dinna care what the right and wrong of it may be, so long as you are here wi' me, Claire," he said softly. "If it was a sin for you to choose me...then I would go to the Devil himself and bless him for tempting ye to it."

(From DRAGONFLY IN AMBER by Diana Gabaldon, chapter 22, "The Royal Stud". Copyright© 1992 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.)

"I have burned for you for twenty years, Sassenach," he said softly. "Do ye not know that?"

(From VOYAGER by Diana Gabaldon, chapter 25, "House of Joy". Copyright© 1994 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.)
"And when my body shall cease, my soul will still be yours. Claire--I swear by my hope of heaven, I will not be parted from you."

(From DRUMS OF AUTUMN by Diana Gabaldon, chapter 16, "The First Law of Thermodynamics". Copyright© 1997 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.)
"When the day shall come, that we do part....if my last words are not 'I love you'--ye'll ken it was because I didna have time."

(From THE FIERY CROSS by Diana Gabaldon, chapter 111, "And Yet Go Out to Meet It". Copyright© 2001 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.)
"Claire," he said, quite gently, "it was you. It's always been you, and it always will be."

(From A BREATH OF SNOW AND ASHES by Diana Gabaldon, chapter 31, "And So To Bed". Copyright© 2005 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.)
"Ever heard of coup de foudre, Sassenach? It didna take me more than one good look at you."

(From AN ECHO IN THE BONE by Diana Gabaldon, chapter 68, "Despoiler". Copyright© 2009 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.)
"I have loved ye since I saw you, Sassenach," he said very quietly, holding my eyes with his own, bloodshot and lined with tiredness but very blue. "I will love ye forever. It doesna matter if ye sleep with the whole English army--well, no," he corrected himself, “it would matter, but it wouldna stop me loving you."

(From WRITTEN IN MY OWN HEART'S BLOOD by Diana Gabaldon, chapter 24, "Welcome Coolness in the Heat, Comfort in the Midst of Woe". Copyright© 2014 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.)

Happy Valentine's Day!

And for those of you in the US, STARZ Edge channel will be running a marathon of all 16 episodes of OUTLANDER Season 1 from 8 am - midnight on February 14.

"I'll Stand By You"

Here's a pair of excellent videos from Julia LeBlanc featuring clips from OUTLANDER Season 1, set to "I'll Stand By You" (which is a song I've always liked).

WARNING: The second one is focused on the events of Episodes 115 and 116 (Wentworth and the aftermath), so the visuals are pretty intense. But I could happily watch the first one over and over. <g>

Thanks, Julia!
