New poll for February

January Poll Results

Results of the January poll are as follows:

What do you think about the OUTLANDER graphic novel?

  • I'm looking forward to getting a different perspective on the events of OUTLANDER. (42.2%)
  • I just want to see more of Jamie and Claire's story, and I don't care how we get it. (17.4%)
  • I can't wait to see Diana's vision of what Jamie and Claire really look like. (11.0%)
  • I'm not crazy about the idea, but I'll probably buy it anyway. (10.1%)
  • I'm glad that Diana is writing the script and working closely with the artist. (6.4%)
  • It's a terrible idea. I don't want to see Jamie and Claire turned into comic book characters. (6.4%)
  • Not sure yet. I want to see more of the sample artwork first. (3.7%)
  • What's a graphic novel, and what does it have to do with OUTLANDER? (2.8%)

Thanks so much to everyone who participated! I find the results very interesting, and more or less in line with my own views on the subject. (I didn't vote in it myself, but if I had, I probably would have gone with the majority on this one.)

For those of you who chose that last option: If you want to find out more about the OUTLANDER graphic novel, look here for Diana's explanation of what it is, and here and here for sample pages of the script and artwork.

February Poll

This month's poll features a selection of my favorite romantic quotes from the books. (The fact that all of them are Jamie-quotes is not a coincidence. <vbg>) I had a hard time choosing only one per book! (Page numbers are from the hardcover editions, and as always, the quotes are copyright© Diana Gabaldon.)

If you have a different quote that you would have liked to see in this list, feel free to post it here. I'm always interested to hear what people think.

February's "Notable Dates"

Finally, I would like to thank Jari Backman for his continuing help with the "Notable Dates This Month" feature on my blog. Jari provided most of the dates listed here for February, as he's done for the last few months. Please keep it up, Jari, you know I appreciate it very much!

Karen,

Oh my! I can't possibly decide which one to choose. I'm going to have to think about it for a week or so before I can vote.

I need a cold shower after seeing all those quotes in such close proximity! : )

So you like my picks, huh? <laughing> Glad to hear it!

Take your time. I intended this as sort of a Valentine's theme anyway, so there's plenty of time. The poll will run until the end of the month.

Hi Vic, and welcome! Glad you found my blog. I've been an Entrecard member for less than a month, but I have already seen significant results from it.

Karen,
Lovely choices. I picked "when the day. . " as I've always thought it summed up Jamie's love for Claire throughout their lives (and after?), and when I realized it came from Diana's husband, I melted. I'm so nosy, but I have never got up the nerve to ask her in what context he said it to her - too personal. I guess to have that said to you under any circumstance is everything.

Bedelia:

I always had the impression that Diana's husband suggested the line as dialog for Jamie, not that Doug would have said it to Diana himself. But I could be wrong, of course.

You know, we're only three days into the month and I am already second-guessing that DRAGONFLY quote. Here's the one I wish I'd used instead:

"Lord, ye gave me a rare woman, and God! I loved her well." (p. 698 hardcover ed.)

Dear Karen,

You're welcome <S>

You picked very good lines and to me the strongest one is from TFC.

The line from Fraser's Ridge is also nice, but I actually prefer an earlier quote from the same scene (a page earlier):
"You are my courage, as I am your conscience," he whispered. "You are my heart - and I your compassion. We are neither of us whole, alone"

Jari:

I love that quote! Great choice. <g>

Karen I love all your choices. I already voted but I wanted to mention this one from DoA. " Your face is my heart and the love of you my soul". Ugh! Gets me everytime!

Hi Phelisha:

Believe it or not, I almost picked that one! As I said, I had a hard time deciding on some of these quotes. Glad you like them.

I love all your options Karen! But my favourite is still the scene where Claire is maybe a wee bit jealous of Annalise du Mariac, and Jamie - remembering her reaction like the attentive man he is - later tells her that though he can't tuck her up like a kitten, still her face is his heart. Oh!

Hi Deniz:

That's a good one too.

It's good to see you over here! <g> Thanks for stopping by.
